A Mysterious Strain Of Pneumonia Has Infected Dozens In China
China is currently dealing with a new mysterious strain of pneumonia. So far 59 people have been stricken with the unknown viral pneumonia.
The city of Wuhan in central China is where the outbreak is located no other areas have yet been affected.
Seven patients are in critical condition and all patients have been quarantined while they receive treatment. The Wuhan Municipal Health Commission has reported.
Symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, and chest radiographs have shown invasive lesions on both lungs.
The infection first appeared between December 12th and December 29th. Some of the infected worked at a seafood market in the city.
The seafood market has been closed since January 1 and began the disinfection process. The market sold varies types of live animals as well including birds, rabbits, and snakes. The concern there is that the virus may have spread from animals to humans. This information was reported by local media.
David Hui Shu-cheong a respiratory expert at the University of Hong Kong says it’s highly likely that the outbreak was caused by a brand new viral pneumonia.
“The concern now is whether the game sold at the market is one of the reasons for the outbreak.”
“Most often, respiratory viruses can be transmitted among humans. It is only a matter of how contagious it is.”
