A Server Blessed For Her Service With $1,200 Tip
As a server myself this story warms my heart and soul. It
In Dublin, Georgia a group of friends went out to enjoy a meal with a special agenda in mind ‘to change the life of one server’. James Deal and his friends each gave $100 and began their new holiday tradition the $100 dollar breakfast.
When the group of 12 entered the Cracker Barrel they asked to be served by the best server the restaurant had to offer. Janet Ballard greeted the table and it was business as usual. Having a large party can defiantly be a bit stressful, but as long as your happy, organized and honest things can work out in your favor.
Janet Ballard a 53-year-old mother of two grown children has been working with the Tennessee based company for 12 years. Ballard had this to say about her experience to Today;
“I connected with them immediately. I’m a people person. I start with greeting them and finding out what needs they have, if they have allergies or whether they’re vegan. Everything that they can possibly need or want I try to hone in on those things when I’m taking that individual order.”
The Aftermath Of Good Service And Good People
After James and his friends finished their meal it came time to change Janet’s holiday for the better. The group handed her a Christmas card, Janet can take it from here.
“I read the card and it had scriptures on it, which let me know they were good people. They were very genuine individuals. They were total strangers. Counting the money, I got to so choked up by the time I got to $400. They wanted me to count out loud. By the time I got to $400 I was like ‘oh my goodness this is really happening. I got so emotional and I don’t really like to cry with a camera in my face, but I didn’t even care at this point.”
The money couldn’t have come at a better time. Ballard was able to pay her taxes, and make her car payment early which improved her credit score. Janet didn’t stop there, she treated herself to a nice seafood lunch where she tipped her server generously. She then treated herself to a pedicure and again she hooked her manicurist up with a great tip before she even began the service on her feet.
“Because of the gift of love and caring and sharing I’m able to not only be a better Janet, but I am able to be an example for people this time of year who don’t have hope.”
