Abdulrazak Gurnah Honored With Nobel Literature Prize

Africa: When Gurnah got the call he’d won he thought it was a prank caller and nearly hung up before he was persuaded to stay on the line. The Swedish Academy honored Abdulrazak for his “uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism.”
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Swedish Academy and has a value of 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.4 Million) Gurnah is 73-years-young, he’s written 10 novels, including “Paradise and Desertion.”
