Conditions On Rikers Island Are Awful & Inmates Are Ruling The Asylum

Rikers Island, New York: The Penitentiary Rikers Island has been given an awful nickname, “Horror Island.” With still six years left before the prison is torn down the issues at hand in the jail are pressing. Mayor Bill de Blasio has said the city has poured endless amounts of money into fixing the problem.

Blasio took time out to do a walk-through of Rikers Island and was horrified with the scenes that unfolded in front of his eyes. Congressman Jamael Bowman is concerned the city can’t wait the full six years something has to be down now.
