New York Was Filled With Kings And Queens At The Essence Fashion House Awards We Have An Exclusive Look!

Fashion week started off on the right foot, to say the least. New York City was filled with Black Excellence and creatives on September 4th as Essence held its inaugural Best In Black Fashion Awards. Host Bevy Smith was the perfect choice for the event the Harlem native is a tv personality and businesswoman best known as the co-host of Fashion Queens a fashion themed talk show on Bravo. The Classic Man himself Jidenna also took to the stage and performed hits from his latest album “85 To Africa.”

The reason behind the awards show was to showcase designers of color who at times get overlooked by the fashion elitists. Essence has cultivated a space where Black models, stylists, photographers, designers and other creatives can be recognized for their contributions to fashion.
