FBI Catfished Organized Crime By Creating Their Own Cell Phone
World Wide Organized Crime; Australia, New Zealand, and Europe: If any of our readers have ever seen the series “StartUp” what they did with ‘ARAKNET’ is very similar to what happened here. A sting operation so sophisticated it is worthy of its own TV series. Last year European police were able to bust two encrypted phone networks. Which instantly left a big gap in communicating via the underworld, this led to a need for a new network. Operation Trojan Sheild was underway.
So an opportunity presented itself. If the FBI could create their own encrypted network they could keep tabs on everything seamlessly and with ninja-like skill. So the ANOM Phones were created. The next step was getting these phones in the black market and into the hands of criminals. FBI used undercover agents, double agents, and C.I.’s to achieve this goal once a criminal had the phone it was over. Everything on that phone was big bothered by the FBI.
This Global Blitzkrieg assault ended with 800 arrests, in 700 locations, and 100 countries. IMUer’s watch the above video from Gravitas to get the full details. This was a very well-planned-out OP and the result is the largest sting operation in law enforcement history. A large blow was dealt to the underworld, they are going to need some time to regroup and it’s going to be difficult to trust technology ever again.
