HISTORICAL SPORTS MOMENT: LISA LESLIE WILL BECOME 1ST FEMALE ATHLETE TO RECEIVE A STATUE

Lisa Leslie is entering uncharted territory not many people can say they have accomplished such a feat. The two time WNBA champion is about to be honored as the first female athlete ever to have a statue built in her honor. The Star Plaza is about to get a bit brighter, the Staples Center in Los Angeles will be even more of a historic venue after the immortalization of the WNBA’s first real star.

We can clearly see why Lisa will be honored and entered into the sports elite alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Julies Erving, and Micheal Jordan. Her numbers speak volumes: 12 year playing career with the Los Angels Sparks, three time WNBA MVP, a two time WNBA champion and Finals MVP, an eight time Allstar and three time All Star game MVP, and a FOUR time Olympic gold medalist. Two cool stats about Lisa you may not be aware of, while playing in high school for Morningside she once scored 101 points by halftime, and she was the first ever player to dunk during a game in the WNBA.

Lisa is now the Head Coach for the Triplets in the BIG3 pro basketball league, she is also an analyst in the studio for the Orlando Magic broadcasts.
