ICONIC JOURNALIST Cokie Roberts PASSED AWAY AT 75

Cokie Roberts was an incredible human loved by family, friends, and co-workers, her words and her voice will carry on forever. It has been reported that Cokie passed away from complications with the C word on Tuesday, she was 75.
Roberts was born into a political family her father Thomas Hale Boggs Sr. held a seat in Congress and was a Democratic majority leader until 1972. Lindy Claiborne Boggs stepped up and took her husband’s seat and made him proud for 17 years.
Politics where in Cokie’s blood so it was natural she was drawn to covering it. She had a love and understanding for it, part of the reason she was great at her craft.
Cokie began reporting for CBS News in Athens Greece, in 1978 she began working for NPR. She held the title of congressional correspondent for over a decade, she also worked with PBS, and went on to work for ABC News.
Roberts broke into a male dominated field and kicked ass her list of awards and accolades is impressive. She is a published author, in 1991 she won an Emmy Award for her contribution to “Who is Ross Perot?” and in 2000 Cokie became the winner of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. Roberts entered the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, and was named one of the fifty greatest woman in the history of broadcasting.




Cokie you will truly be missed by loved ones and your fans. I can remember as a child my parents watching the news and hearing your name, seeing your face and listing to you speak, our thoughts here at IMU go out to your family and friends in their time of need.
