IMU Exclusive BE Festival Part 1: 🎥Film Fest, And EBC BasketBall🏀

Atlantic City, New Jersey; Showboat Hotel: The BE Festival in AC on Juneteenth/Fathers Day weekend will go down in history. An event so successful it’s going to BE created over the next three years (22,23,24). Each year promising to be bigger than the one prior.

This year’s festivities kicked off with the BE Film Festival which featured films from amazing directors, writers, and producers scattered throughout the tri-state. Some big winners from this year are; Chanelle Angelique won her award which was for Women of Color in Film. The name of the film is ‘HER, SHE‘ and it was nominated at four different Film Festivals. Congrats Chanelle and keep up the amazing work.

La’Cinda Trotter and her team put together an award-winning film that is sad yet powerful and speaks on an issue that is very real in today’s society yet very preventable.

The film is titled “Death Saved My Life.”(👈🏼Watch It 👈🏼). La’Cinda wrote and produced the film which won the highest award of the evening for ‘Best Film.’ A big congratulations one year later after its creation the film is now an award winner. Anthony Reed Jr. directed the film which stared Que Boyd as the kid who just couldn’t take it anymore. The film focuses on Chris who feels his parents don’t have time for him, his younger brother finds him annoying, and he gets bullied at school. The combo is just too much like it has been for countless children across the globe and Chris writes a heartfelt note just before killing himself. When Chris realizes what he’s done it’s too late and now he must witness the pain he caused by selfishly taking his own life, maybe if his parents just listened. IMUer’s let me just say I am so grateful and blessed to have been a part of such an incredible event for the culture and humanity. Getting to watch the legendary and rising stars in the game was a treat seeing how fluidly these athletes move, how high they jump, and how quickly they defend lets you know you were in the presence of excellence! Be sure to be on the lookout for Jeff McILwain and Quinton Dixon pulling up to a court near you don’t want to miss the opportunity to watch these dudes before they make it to the NBA.
