In Baghdad Tens Of Thousands March To Mourn Soleimani
On Saturday tens of thousands of people marched to mourn Iran’s military chief Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader and deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Both men amongst others were killed in the U.S. airstrike.
Donald Trump by ordering the air strike has led Washington and its allies into uncharted territory.
Senior commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Gholamali Abuhamzeh had this to say;
“Tehran would punish Americans wherever they are in reach.”
Abuhamzeh also spoke of possibly attacking ships in the Gulf.
In Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone an elaborate PMF organized procession carried the bodies of those killed in the airstrike.
Dozens of American employees left the southern city of Basra in Iraq and the U.S. embassy in Baghdad urged American citizens to leave Iraq.
Britain a close ally to the U.S. warned their nationals to avoid all travel to Iraq and to avoid travel to Iran unless it was absolutely necessary.
