In Canada the government consists of two major parties the Conservatives and the Liberals, last night in Montreal Justin Trudeau and his Liberal party maintained control winning by a slime margin over Andrew Scheer and the Conservatives.
Mr. Trudeau in his second term is going to find it more difficult to pass legislation despite winning 157 seats just 13 short of a majority.
The opposing Conservatives won the popular vote but have been unable to translate that into seats, though this year they are up 26 seats from the last election to give them 121.
The two other main parties are the NDP short for New Democratic Party, whose leader is Jagmeet Singh, and Quebec’s separatist party the Bloc
Mr. Trudeau spoke to the voters after his hard fought victory;
“You have rejected division and negativity.. and rejected cuts and austerity and voted in favor of a progressive agenda and strong action on climate change.”
“Thank you for having faith in us to move our country in the right direction.”
