Let Us Pray For Haiti After Earthquake Tropical Storm Hits
Haiti, One Of The Most Resilient Countries & Humans Ever: After a devastating 7.2 rector scale earthquake that took 2,000 people with it Haiti got hit with a tropical storm Grace days later. This gorgeous Caribbean coastline has been ravaged over the years by earthquakes and storms, in 2010 a quake comparable in strength left 220,000 in its wake and injured over 300,000.
The country’s unique geology makes it very susceptible to seismic activity due to a combination of factors. First off Haiti sits directly on a fault line squarely between huge tectonic plates. Large pieces of the Earth’s crust that move past each other over time. The two plates are the Caribbean Plate and the North American Plate. They also have two major faults along Hispaniola the island they share with the Dominican Republic.
Enriquillo Plantain Garden is the southernmost fault system. The U.S. Geological Survey says that is the fault line that caused this devastating Quake and the one in 2010.
Our thoughts and prayers here at IMU Media go out to all the family and friends who lost loved ones then and now. May you all stand strong as a nation and don’t lose hope ever. Those who are displaced will be back in their homes at some point and it’s going to be glorious! Keep your heads up we are all praying for you, ya’ll in Haiti are survivors!!!
