80-year-old Paul Harvey battles with dementia but he’s not letting that stop him the former music teacher just released his first single! Yes, that’s right you are reading correctly if people still do now a day’s I’m not 100% certain of that fact. Harvey’s son Nick one night challenged his Pop’s to play four chords and he put the clip on Twitter. Most recently Paul just got to do a gig with the world-famous BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Shooot after that went viral when it aired on tv during World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, the BBC Philharmonic wanted to get involved and did.
The video lets us see first hand the power of music over the mind. Despite suffering with dementia Paul was able to recall all the skills he had learnt when he first learned to play piano many moons ago.
“It’s quite amazing that all this has happened, and in my 81st year. It’s fantastic. It’s given me a new lease of life and after we’ve all finished here I’ll go to the piano and find another four notes.”
