Basketball come playoff time the refs loosen up, players are laser-focused, and the energy from fans fuels the fourth quarter. It’s a few of my favorite weeks out of the year. Especially this year with my hometown squad the Philadelphia 76er’s currently up 108-99 over Washington. In last night’s action, the Heat were almost too much for the Bucks, the Clippers fell to the Mavs, Brooklyn prevailed over Boston, and Portland looked great in their victory over Denver. ‘Dolla Dame’ looked inspired coming off of his spoken word feature on Cole’s album.
Milwaukee 109 – Miami 107
Without further ado game one on last night’s slate kicked off in Milwaukee, with the Heat traveling into town to take on Giannis and the Bucks. The trio of Holiday, Middleton, and Giannis combined for 73 and outlasted Miami in OT 109-107. The Heat attack was led by Goran Dragic who scored 25, Jimmy Buttler was two assists shy of triple-double, and Duncan Robinson added 24.
Dallas 113 – 103 LA Clippers
Next up we’re traveling to LA to watch the Mavs spar with the Clippers. Luka Doncic set the tone for the series notching himself a triple-double and he led all scorers with 31. LA’s stars Kawhi and Mr. George led the attack combing for 49 points. The Clippers are going to need a more balanced attack if they want to move on to the next round.
Brooklyn 104 – 94 Boston
Let’s keep this train rolling into ‘the big city of dreams‘ where the Nets were defending their home court against the Celtics. A fun competitive game indeed, but Brooklyn is starting 4 future Hall of Famers so your effort must elevate to a whole new level. KD, Harden, and Kyrie combined for 82 points! Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart Boston’s backbone both played 40 minutes and combined to score 39 in the loss.
Portland 123 – 109 Denver
Our last and final stop of the evening brings us into Denver. Portland was ready from the rip dropping 35 on the Nuggets after the opening tip. The dynamic duo of CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard proved to be too much for Jokic and Denver in game one. Lillard and Nikola both led their squads with 34 points. This is going to be a fun series to watch this early on.
Philadelphia 125 – 118 Washington
