One Man In Thailand Shoots 51 People, Kills 20 And Is Still At Large
A Thai soldier has gone off the rails. Army Sub Lt. Jakrapanth Thomma, works for the 22nd Ammunition Battalion. Today he got into an argument with a superior officer. The altercation ended when the higher-ranked officer was shot and killed.
Thomma’s next course of action was to steal guns, ammunition and a Humvee. A spokesman for the defense ministry Lt. Gen. Kongcheep Tantravanich had this to say.
“In general, any military officer would be good at guns, but this man certainly has more skills.”
After equipping himself the suspect took off in the Humvee and ran into one of the largest malls in Thailand Terminal 21. The
Jon Fielding, who lives in the area and teaches English gave an eyewitness account.
“Everybody was running into shops and restaurants and barricading the doors. Everyone was really panicking. Everyone was looking through the glass trying to see what was happening exactly.”
“It’s a huge mall, really busy. There must have been thousands of people in the mall.”
The police and military combined together to evacuate people safely from the mall, who were trapped for upwards of 5 hours. As we speak the gunman is still at large.
