Patriots Dominate the Jets 33-0 To Remain Undefeated

On Monday night in East Rutherford New Jersey on a national stage the New England Patriots came out and dominated the Jets from the opening drive.
The Pats moved the ball 78 yards on 16 plays and eat up 8:47 of game clock, while converting three third down plays. Sony Michel capped the drive off with a three-yard scamper on a toss from Brady, putting the Patriots up 7-0.
Sam Darnold looked like a second year QB last night against a Patriots defense that blitzed and pressured him from the opening drive that lasted only two plays. On the Jets second play from scrimmage Darnold dropped back to pass and threw it up quickly under pressure the ball sailed past his receiver into the arms of Devin Mccourty. The Pats converted the turnover into a field goal by Mike Nugent giving them a 10-0 lead.
The story in this game was New England’s defensive, they controlled the line of scrimmage and Belichick sent blitz after blitz at the young QB and the pressure was too much. Darnold turned the ball over 5 times and had a snap sail over his head for a safety. Sam threw 4 interceptions and lost a fumble on a strip-sack. The Patriots D recorded their 2nd shutout of the season the first coming against Mia
The Jets offense accumulated a meager 168 yards of total offense. Sam Darnold completed just 11 passes on 32 attempts for 86 yards. Le’Veon Bell had 15 carries for 70 yards, former Patriots wideout Demaryius Thomas caught three of his nine targets for 42 yards.
New England didn’t look great on offense against a bad Jets team. Tom Brady finished the evening with 249 yards going 31/45 with a TD and an INT. Sony Michel did score three times but only had 42 yards on 19 carries averaging a meek 2.2 yards a carry. Julian Edelman and James White both hauled in 7 receptions. Phillip Dorsett had the lone receiving TD on a perfectly thrown ball by Brady near the corner of the end zone to put the Pats up 17-0.
The Patriots improved to 7-0 on the season with the 33-0 victory over the Jets, who are now 1-5. New England swept the two-game series for the fourth consecutive year against their AFC East rivals.
Coach Bill Belichick had this to say about his team; “We were able to make some plays early in the game, and play pretty solid for 60 minutes.”
Next Sunday the Patriots play host to the Cleveland Browns, the Jets roll down to Jacksonville to tussle with the Jaguars. Before we get ahead of ourselves check out the highlights below.
