Police Raid Apple Daily In Hong Kong Again & Arrest Exec’s
“Freedom of Press; The principle right newspapers, magazines, media outlets, etc. have to report the news without being controlled by the government.”
Hong Kong: Not every country seems to have the same rights, is that fair? Of course not. What can be done? Not much apparently. Some governments, the ink that paints them in a way they don’t care for, something will be done about it. Even just freely speaking out in public badly about the government can get you into hot water with people you don’t want to be in that situation with.
Apply Daily a newspaper operation run out of Hong Kong has found itself in just that particular situation. 10 months ago police raided the offices of Apple Daily and this morning it happened again. 500 police officers stormed the building, entered the newsroom, and made it impossible for journalists to do any work. Hong Kong authorities have had AD in their scope for some time now, the critical Pro-Democracy media outlet has been accused of publishing dozens of printed and online articles calling for sanctions between China and Hong Kong. Authorities say Apple Daily is using their platform to endanger Nation Security.
The raid produced 5 arrests all of whom were directors of a company on suspicion of collusion with a forgein country. If that is true the arrests would defiantly be legit if Hong Kong is able to stop some diabolical plan from occurring that would be amazing.
