Putin Wants To Remain In Power Until 2036
Vladimir Putin set a plan in motion that would allow him to remain in power for another 16 years. A complete 360 from wanting to impose term limits. He wants to be the only one who can run the country. If Putin pulls this off he would be 84 in the last year of his reign. Vladimir is the Kremlin’s longest-serving leader since dictator Josef Stalin.
“In principle, this option may be possible but on one condition, that Russia’s Constitutional Court give an offical ruling that such an amendment wouldn’t run counter to the fundeamental provisions of constitution.”
– Putin
On April 22 the Constitutional Court ruling along with a national vote in support of Putin’s plan is set to take place. It is very likely to go in the way of the Kremlin, in Russia’s closely knit political system. Vlad would then serve two more 6-year terms beginning in 2024.
