On Thursday night Rihanna held her 5th Annual Diamond Ball in downtown Manhattan at the one and only Cipriani Wall Street. The reason for the gathering of nearly 600 people is to show support for the Clara Lionel Foundation. The room was filled with top notch stars starting with the host for the evening Seth Meyers and the array of performers Fat Joe, G-Eazy, Megan Thee Stallion, A$AP Ferg, Fabolous, DJ Khaled , Yo Gotti Pharrell Williams and Rihanna herself.
The Clara Lionel Foundation is the charitable organization named in honor of her grandparents, that focuses on providing global girls with support through education programs and humanitarian aid programs in her birth place the Caribbean. Money is raised from a pricey entrance fee, and a live auction that feature super dope experiences that come with a price. One of the the prizes is an all-expenses-paid trip to watch Serena Williams compete in her next Grand Slam ($60,000) or a trip to Barbados where you get to share a meal with the Prime Minister and get to go on a submarine trip, plus other perks ($275,00). $5 Million was raised in total, how fitting on the 5th anniversary.
What a special night and the perfect way to wind down New York’s Fashion week. Money was raised for a great cause, friends came together at one of the finest establishments in the city, great food was consumed, an open bar provided the let loose juice, and intimate live performances were seen. Rihanna and Pharrell ended the evening with the first ever live performance of “Lemon.”
Record exec and Roc-A-Fella co-founder Biggs Burke told Time “It’s more than just the party, its the give-back, first and foremost its for a good cause. Second, obviously, it’s a great party. There’ll be some D’usse spilling and Ace of Spades all over the place.
