Serena Williams Wins First Title In 3 Years And Donates Her Winnings To Australia Wildfire Victims
Auckland, New Zealand- Serena Williams faced off against fellow American Jessica Pegula at the ASB Classic. It was a great match between two top athletes.
Serena defeated Pegula 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to capture her first title in three years. The last title Williams won was the Australian Open singles tournament in January of 2017. It was the first title her daughter Olympia got to see her mom win.

The title was Serena’s 23rd major and her 73rd win in 98 finals. The victory brought a $43,000 payday and Serena donated it all to the fundraising appeal for Australia’s wildfire victims.
“I played an incredible opponent today in Jessica and honestly, it was a great match, and I couldn’t have played anyone better in the final.
“It feels good. It’s been a long time. I think you can see the relief on my face“
