South Africa’s Freight Industry Was Hacked Motive Unclear
South Africa: This past week the freight industry ran into some serious logistic issues when their entire system was basically compromised making it nearly impossible to operate. Imagine huge shipping containers loaded with goods getting loaded into 18-wheeler’s and then off to the highway. Tim the semi’s driver is jamming to the radio “Sweet Caroline!,” when all of a sudden Jim rolls up with his homies knowing the contents of this cargo is new electronics imagine that payload for Jimmy and the squad living in squaller on a different planet, the third-world. You could imagine the issues hacking the freight industry could cause.
As things are gearing to get back to business obvious concerns still linger, especially since the motive is still unclear. Transnet IT are the victims of the cyberattack, and the investigation is ongoing. Gavin Kelly who works for the Road Freight Association took some time out to speak with eNCA. IMUer’s watch the video above and learn what’s really going on in South Africa.
