The Culture Lost A Legend Today, DMX Rest In Power
I begin writing tonight with a heavy heart. In the ’90s Hip-Hop started cementing its place in American culture. By the time “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot” dropped in 98′ the spoken word infused with instrumentation had taken off. Earl Simmons AKA DMX stepped on the scene and became one of the most distinguishable voices ever.

23 short years later, family, friends, and fans sadly will never again get the chance to hear DMX speak. Mr. Simmon’s family released a press release early today, this is what they had to say.
We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.
We first brought this story on Friday, followed up by Funk Flex’s reaction to how the industry handled the situation. I forget the exact year but it was circa 2008-2010, I had tickets to go see Eve and DMX rock out at the House Of Blues in AC. I was so excited, a few days prior X got arrested and the show got canceled I was mad dissapointed.
