The Next Generation Of Signal Callers Is Amongst Us

Warren Moon and Randel Cunningham paved the way for Micheal Vick, Donavan McNabb and Vince Young. Who in turn took what they saw from their mentors and introduced their own unique skills. The quarterback landscape has been changing ever since.
Just imagine defense coordinator Gregg Williams having to game plan for the triple threat assault that is Lamar Jackson. There’s not much you can do against a man that can elude defenders with his feet, throw the ball with pin point accuracy and average a touchdown every 8.9 passes.
Week 15 the NFL will march nine African American signal callers onto the field. These men follow in the cleats marks left behind by Moon and Vick, a new generation of quarterback is emerging in the NFL.

Russell Wilson is the leader of that next generation, followed this week bye Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Jameis Winston, Kyler Murray, Jacoby Brissett, and Dwayne Hoskins.

It’s good to see the emergence of these young black quarterbacks leading their teams to victory in a league that was once dominated by only white signal-callers.
