Yesterday The House voted on two articles of impeachment ‘Abuse of Power’ and ‘Obstruction of Congress.’ Both articles passed last night at around 8:30 p.m.
The abuse of power vote was 230-197. The vote was approved by all of but two Democrats, no Republicans backed the vote. Just minutes later the House ruled on obstruction of congress, the vote was almost identical 229-198.
Now that both articles of impeachment have been voted on and passed through, Trump’s fate now lies in the hands of the Republican ran Senate.
The Senate will now hold a trial and a vote to determine if Donald Trump should be removed from office. A timetable still needs to be established and the process must be determined as for now, we wait. The GOP-controlled chamber is leaning towards acquitting President Trump on both counts. There is no evidence to suggest that 67 senators would consider removing Trump from office under any circumstances.
If that is the case then the
Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are holding off a vote to appoint their impeachment managers until they establish that the Senate will hold a fair trail.
“We cannot name managers until we see what the process is on the Senate side. So far, we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us.”
