It has been over 70 years since the U.S. military has added a new service to its robust repertoire, today the commander and chief introduced the ‘Space Force’.
Space Force will fall under control of the US Air Force and General Jay Raymond.
In Washington at a near by army base Trump spoke about the new military service saying it was “the worlds newest war-fighting domain.”
“We’re leading, but we’re not leading by enough, but very shortly we’ll be leading by a lot.”
“The space Force will help us deter aggression and control the ultimate high ground.”
On Friday President Trump signed and allocated that $738 billion dollars will go into funding the U.S. military. The Space Force in its inaugural year will get $40 million of that to begin the military’s next frontier. “May The Force Be With You.”
Space Force Objective
Troops will not become astronauts or Jedi Fighter pilots, but they will protect U.S. assets. The protection of hundreds of satellites that are used for communication and surveillance will be the main focus.
China and Russia have been making advances they have produced airborne lasers and anti-satellite missiles, the U.S. needs to be able to counter this futuristic weaponry. This is according to Vice-President Mike Pence, who also had this to say;
“The space environment has fundamentally changed in the last generation. What was once peaceful and uncontested is now crowded and adversarial”
U.S. Space Command (SpaceCom) has already begun working on a few things since their inception in August. Space Force will team up with them to handle the U.S. military’s space operations.
Barbara Barrett the Air Force Secretary said around 16,000 Air Force and civilian personnel will make up the Space Force.
