Millions of Americans today will hear directly from witnesses for the first time. Trump is being accused of allegedly using foreign aid to pressure Ukraine into investigating his political rival.
Did Donald Trump abuse the power of his office for his own political gain? That’s the main question surrounding the ‘impeachment’ probe.
George Kent and William Taylor will be the first two witnesses called to the stage today. Taylor serves the U.S. charges d’affaires in Kyiv. Kent is a top U.S. State Department official who has decades of experience under his belt.
Together they will appear in front of the House Intelligence Committee. Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is expected to appear in front of the committee on Friday.
Eight more U.S. officials will testify publicly before the committee next week, according to the House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.
“We want the American people to hear the evidence for themselves in the witnesses’ own words, and our goal is to present the facts in a serious and sober manner.”
-Rep. Adam Schiff
