Watch The Impeachment Hearings Live As Two Articles Are About To Get Voted On
Later on today the House Judiciary Committee is going to vote on two articles of impeachment against President Donald J Trump.
The focus today is on the allegations that Trump pressured Ukraine to start probes that helped him politically and how he tried blocking Congress from investigating him.
What happens if the panel votes to approve the articles? The issue then goes to the full House vote next week. If the House then votes to impeach, the matter will move onto the Republican-controlled Senate. When the articles get there a 2/3’s vote is required to remove Trump from office. Which seems unlikely since it is controlled by Republicans.
Thursday morning the debates continued. Democrat’s believe they will have enough votes to impeach Mr. Trump. The decision has triggered a constitutional fight that has put pressure on Democrats who were elected from districts that also backed Trump.
Rep. Lucy McBath (D., GA) had this to say about the situation;
“This is not what I wanted to have to do, and I have prayed and prayed daily on this. I truly mean I am grieving.
Some Democrats are declining to say which side of the fence they are on on the impeachment issues. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif) said she would not be twisting arms to get votes to pass the articles.
If Trump gets impeached he would be only the third U.S. president to be impeached by the house.
