Yankees Stave Off Elimination Force Game 6 Tonight

Houston felt pretty damn confident last night with ace Justin Verlander on the hill and holding a 3-1 ALCS series lead.
James Paxton got the start for the Yanks. George Springer led off the top of the first for the Astros with a base hit up the middle, he advanced to second on a passed ball, moved up to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch. Giving his team a 1-0 lead going into the bottom half of the inning.
Leadoff batter DJ LeMahieu didn’t let that lead last very long as he homered off Verlander to start the inning. Aaron Hicks came up with runners on second and third, he drove a Verlander pitch down the line and off the foul pole to give his club a 4-1 advantage in the bottom of the first.
After a shaky first Paxton calmed down and threw another 5 innings finishing the night with 9 strikeouts, he allowed 4 hits, and 1 earned run. The bullpen was lights out after that, closer Aroldis Chapman finished the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, allowing the Yanks to stay alive.
Verlander pitched great after the first inning homer fest, he threw 7 innings giving up 5 hits and struckout 9. Houston couldn’t get him any help, the good news is they still have a 3-2 lead in the series heading back home.
Tonight’s game 6 in Houston will start just 22 hours after the last out in game 5 was recorded. Leaving Astros manager A.J. Hinch and Yankees skipper Aaron Boone scrambling to decide who’s going to start. No official starters have been named yet, this one is going to come down to the bullpens it seems like. Rookie Jose Urquidy is expected to start for Houston, while the Yanks may send J.A. Happ to the mound on short rest. Game time is set for 7:38 p.m. at Minute Maid Park.
