Wendy Williams is breaking her silence on her guardianship, firmly denying claims that she is cognitively impaired and calling for her freedom.

In February 2024, a press release from the Ridge Hill Group alleged that Wendy is battling primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, a condition also affecting actor Bruce Willis. Soon after, Lifetime aired a documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?, highlighting her health struggles.

On Thursday, Wendy, alongside her niece Alex, called into The Breakfast Club to speak with DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, and Jess Hilarious about her ongoing conservatorship.

“I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying?” Wendy insisted during the interview. “But I feel like I’m in prison.”

She described her life at a New York City care facility, sharing, “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s … There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”

Explaining her daily routine, Wendy said, “I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.” She also revealed she has no access to a smartphone, laptop, or iPad.

Alex described Wendy’s living conditions as a “luxury prison,” saying, “It is small. She has a bed, a chair, a TV, a bathroom, and one window looking out at buildings across the street.”

Wendy revealed that strict security measures control her movements, explaining, “You have to get keys to unlock the door to press the elevator to go downstairs.”

Adding to the distress, Alex shared, “She can call us, but we can’t call her. That’s been the reality since 2023. When I visited her in October, the level of security and questions I faced were absolutely horrible.”

Alex also disclosed that attempts to visit Wendy on her birthday were blocked. Wendy shared, “For the last three birthdays, I’ve spent my birthday by myself. This is what is called emotional abuse.”

Wendy also revealed that her beloved cats had been taken away without her knowledge. “My cats are gone, everybody, and I did not know that,” she said tearfully.

She grew emotional discussing her father’s upcoming 94th birthday in Miami, expressing fears she may not be allowed to visit him. “I am exhausted thinking about what if I can’t see my dad for his birthday,” she said, breaking down.

Alex condemned the situation, saying, “The fact that they are playing games with my grandfather being able to see his daughter is absolutely sickening.”

Wendy expressed fears that speaking out might result in losing her limited contact with the outside world. “What if they take my phone?” she wondered through tears.

Alex urged fans to support Wendy by amplifying the hashtag #FreeWendy and signing a Change.org petition. “We need to make as much noise as possible to ensure my aunt can live her life with dignity,” Alex said.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Alex emphasized, “My aunt sounds great. This does not match an incapacitated person. She is being held and punished for reasons others are creating. She deserves her freedom.”

Charlamagne Tha God added, “Wendy wants to be released from her conservatorship and reunited with her family in Miami.”

In a separate statement, Wendy also addressed recent allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering against Diddy, charges he has denied. “Diddy will go to prison for life, people,” she declared. “You don’t know the things I knew about Diddy back in the day. And you know what? It’s about time.”

Legal documents from November, tied to a lawsuit involving Wendy’s guardian Sabrina Morrissey, stated that Wendy suffers from early-onset dementia, rendering her “permanently incapacitated.”

Wendy Williams hosted The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 to 2021 before stepping back due to health issues. Now, she’s fighting for her freedom and the chance to live her life on her own terms.
