Memphis, TN – In an unprecedented celebration of hip-hop culture, FUBU, in partnership with Telecast Media Group and The Redwing Group, has unveiled plans for the first-ever Hip Hop Awards & Festival Weekend, set to take place from August 14–17, 2025. This landmark four-day event will honor the multifaceted impact of hip-hop, spotlighting its influence on music, fashion, film, business, and social justice.

For J. Alexander Martin, co-founder of FUBU, the choice of Memphis as the event’s home is deeply symbolic. “Memphis represents the heart of America’s music history, and its cultural significance aligns perfectly with FUBU’s commitment to honoring and elevating hip-hop in its most authentic form,” Martin explained. The awards ceremony will be held at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, and the event is expected to generate an economic impact ranging from $30 to $50 million for the city.

Memphis Mayor Paul Young expressed his excitement about the partnership, noting that the city’s position as America’s largest majority Black metropolis makes the collaboration with FUBU feel both timely and natural. “This event is not just a celebration of hip-hop; it’s a recognition of Memphis’ role as a cultural and creative powerhouse,” Young said. The weekend aims to shine a light on trailblazers in music, media, fashion, and social justice while fostering new avenues for growth and recognition in the city.

Roberto “Rush” Evans, co-CEO of FUBU, added that the event would focus on honoring the key figures who have shaped hip-hop as both a business and a cultural movement. “We’re celebrating the influencers, designers, and entrepreneurs who’ve built the vibrant commercial and cultural infrastructure that supports the genre today,” Evans said. Mike Dockery, CEO of Telecast Media Group, reflected on his personal journey to elevate Memphis on the national stage, calling the collaboration with FUBU a testament to the power of perseverance. “This partnership is proof that persistence pays off,” Dockery remarked.
